Lent 2019 – try a book

books for lent Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 6th 2019. There are loads of resources around for Lent – so if you fancy using the 40 days to try something different New Roots has been digging around for some ideas.

What about reading a book? Pretty much all of the main Christian publishers have a load of fab books to tempt you with (there’s a little joke there – temptation and Lent – get it?).

Anyway – to save you the time because we know you are busy – here’s some helpful links to some of the publishers – this si not an exhaustive list. Sorry if we have missed out your favourite.

Darton Longman & Todd are great publishers and have a really good range of Lent books to choose from

SPCK have a range of books as well as bible study material for groups. Why not get a few people together over a beer? (Or coffee if you have given up the booze for lent!)

From the stable that has published material linked with the 2019 Lent material from the Church of England (that we have profiled here) – take a browse through the virtual bookshelves of Church House Publishing

methodist art collectionIf books full of words are not your thing – take a look at the resources from the Methodist Church – which includes material from the fabulous Methodist Art Collection.

Last but definitely not least – New Roots loves the material from the Iona Community. Always thoughtful and often challenging there are lots of things to choose from to help you reflect on Lent and Easter.

Happy reading!
