This is one of a series of short reflections that can be used by individuals or small groups. It may be worth considering keeping a journal to make notes as you use each reflection.

In this session…..we shall be looking at the prophet Hosea, his relationship with God and the trust he has in him.

Settling in.
Spend a few moments to prepare to be open to receive from God during this reflection.
You may consider putting your phone on silent for a while. Light a candle. Get comfortable.

Gathering Worship

Listen to this song
COME, NOW IS THE TIME to worship,
Come, now is the time to give your heart.
Come, just as you are to worship,
Come, just as you are before your God.
Come.
One day every tongue will confess You are God.
One day every knee will bow.
Still, the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose You now.

Reading: Hosea 14: 1 -2, 4.

Prayer
O Lord grant us the grace to love you with our whole hearts,
and that in loving you we may seek and find you;
And in so finding and loving you
We may remember that you have redeemed us in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  • A little of the story.

The book of Hosea is a love story real tragic and true transcending the tale of a young man and his wife it tells of Gods love for his people and the response of his bride. A covenant has been made and God has been faithful his love steadfast and his commitment unbroken.

Reading and reflection

Read  Hosea 1 :  2 – 3

How would you have felt taking someone like Gomma for your  partner?

Would you continue to trust God’s wisdom and judgments if he asked this of you?

Are our own agendas more important than God’s?

Activity  ( 5 mins)

Write in your journal or on a piece of paper what you feel are the hard and difficult areas in your life.

Hosea followed God to the letter:  Would you be prepared to do the same?

Do we distort our vision of God so it suits us better?

Is there something you can say yes to God for now.?

What can Hosea teach us about turning back to God?

Closing Worship

Listen to this Song :

Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You

Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You

You are the potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray

Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You

Closing Prayer

Lord teach us to walk in your way more trustfully ,
To accept your truth more faithfully,
And to share your life more lovingly
By the power of the Holy Spirit guide us that we may come as one family to the kingdom of the family where you live forever.  Amen
