Lent 2020

As usual we are have been taking a quick look around to find out what resources are out there for Lent this year. Lent begins on Wednesday 26th February and runs through to Easter day (April 12th)
So whether it’s a book, a course, a podcast, or one of the reflections that we will be running here at New Roots – here are some:

The Church of England is taking an environmental take on Lent this year
#LiveLent: Care for God’s Creation is the Church of England’s Lent Campaign for 2020. With weekly themes shaped around the first Genesis account of creation, it explores the urgent need for humans to value and protect the abundance God has created. This year’s #LiveLent challenge offers 40 short reflections and suggested actions to help you, your family and your church live in greater harmony with God, neighbour and nature.
It has been inspired and informed by the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2020 Lent Book, Saying Yes to Life by Ruth Valerio (SPCK).
There are many ways to be involved with this year’s #LiveLent – including receiving seasonal reflections by email. The app is available for android and apple – go to your usual app store and search Church of England or Live Lent.

If a book is your thing – take a look at some of these publishers:

Darton, Longman and Todd is a really good publishing company that has a good mix of new titles as well as books that have a good track record in helping people grow in faith.

Churches together in Britian and Ireland has a downloadable study for Lent based on scripture

New Roots will have a second set of materials available in time for the start of Lent. Following on from the Knowing God as Father material – we shall be publishing 5 reflections based on John’s Gospel: Growing to be like Jesus . Make sure you check the site regularly for updates.

Still figuring out what being a disciple might mean. Anglican priest and cyclist. One of the founders and editors of New Roots - partly as a way of hanging on in there!
