NSHSS created this scholarship to honor those students who embrace and celebrate the STEAM field and thrive within it.

The Nurses Make a Difference Scholarship is an annual $1,000 scholarship awarded by Cascade Healthcare Solutions to an aspiring nurse who is currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program at a college or university, or is a high school student who has been accepted into a school with an undergraduate nursing program

Are you a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student either currently pursuing or planning to pursue a Life Science-related field of study for the upcoming academic year? This scholarship is funded by antibodies-online.com, an organization with a mission to support life science research. To help them achieve this goal, they offer a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing the Life Sciences twice a year. While there is only one winner per application cycle, the scholarship is biannual, with deadlines every January and July.

The Anna N. Dosen Serbian Educational Fund annually awards $3,000 to multiple current and incoming undergraduate students majoring in engineering or health sciences. Applicants must also have a minimum 2.0 GPA. As a community-serving program focused on increasing diversity in health care careers. This opportunity best serves students who have no previous exposure to health care. But you must provide proof of eligibility to legally work in the United States and have a permanent residence in a Northern California Kaiser Permanente. 

 Deadline is usually in December, though dates may vary by program year.

We are proud to offer so many great opportunities for anyone who wishes to volunteer at MarinHealth Medical Center. The positions accommodate high school students as young as 16 years old, college students, to general adults and senior populations. Please let our Volunteer Coordinator know if you have special skills (clerical work, retail sales, computers, etc.) Below you will find a list of current opportunities:

Best time to apply is between January – March each year. 

students will conduct hands-on research with a lab mentor in one of eight research institutes: immunology, neurobiology, cancer biology, bioengineering, stem cell and regenerative medicine, cardiovascular biology, bioinformatics, and genetics and genomics. (There is a $40 application fee (waived if family income is less than $80,000))

The Stanford Medical Youth Science Program (SMYSP) is an academic enrichment program for students from first generation and low-income high school juniors. Over five weeks, participants engage in faculty lectures, professional development workshops, Stanford Medicine networking events, and a public health disparities research project. During the program and beyond, participants are mentored by faculty, health professionals, and college students on preparing for college, navigating careers in medicine, and becoming a leader today.

The Pediatrics Internship Program at Stanford is a 6-week internship focused on learning about science, medicine, and research careers that is open to high school rising juniors and seniors who live in Northern California. Our goal is to show students the exciting world of science, research, and medicine! the program will be offered in-person, with the option of some remote work, pending Stanford University approval. There is no cost for students to participate in this program. Admitted students who can demonstrate financial need are eligible for a $3,000 stipend for participating in this program. More details on the documentation needed are outlined in the application.

The Science Ambassador Scholarship is funded by Cards Against Humanity, an adult party card game company that supports charity efforts with its profits. Every year, their Science Ambassador Scholarship awards $20,000 each to five women or non-binary high school seniors or undergraduate students who submit a three-minute educational video on a STEM topic they’re passionate about.
