The NEXT for AUTISM Fellows Scholarship is available to graduating seniors' students who are pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in the human services field. Students who are currently working/planning to work as a direct service provider for adults with autism and/or an intellectual disability are eligible to apply.

The AvaCare Medical Scholarship recognizes impressive, caring students who are pursuing a degree in the medical field. This scholarship is awarded annually to one submission that tells about an inspiring act of kindness. Applicants must be current high school seniors or post-secondary students who are pursuing a degree in a medical field such as in therapy, nursing, medicine, nutrition, laboratory science, dentistry, health law, etc. Applicants must also be citizens of the United States/in possession of an Alien Registration Card. While any student pursuing a degree in a medical field may apply, preference will be given to students with a physical disability.

San Francisco YouthWorks offers paid internships to high school students who are interested in learning how to work within the public works sector. Students are placed with San Francisco city departments like the Public Utilities Commission, the Public Library, and the San Francisco International Airport.

This project-based program allows students to undertake a hands-on project that directly benefits schools and communities. Green Scholars encompasses the domains of environmental literacy, professional skills, and project/program management, through which students discover their own interests and engage with their schools. Interns collaborate on a variety of critical projects and initiatives, working a minimum of 15 hours a week for 5-month contract periods. (I think you only need to be a citizen to win a award)

In addition to an in-person experience open to Baltimore City high school students, the Johns Hopkins Neurology and Neurosurgery Center invites high school students across the U.S. to apply for a 5-week virtual summer internship. This research internship aims to expose students to careers in the neurological sciences. The virtual option includes educational presentations, professional development training, exposure to laboratory techniques, and mentorship training.

Meaningful Teens offers internships and volunteer experiences for high school students across its welfare and educational programs. Projects range from Project Omega (tutoring Oakland grammar school students in reading) to Project Speak Together (offering one-on-one conversational experiences with Ukrainian students). If so, the Delete Cyberbullying Mental Health Awareness Scholarship may be a good opportunity for you.
