Are you a current or incoming undergraduate student pursuing a degree in any field that can be applied to interstellar space travel missions and to help establish successful civilizations?  Each year, the scholarship awards $2,500 to one current or incoming undergraduate student pursuing a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)-related fields, ecology, social sciences, environmental, business, health, law, agriculture, food sciences, computer science, education, construction, or any other field that can advance interstellar space travel missions.

Whether it be behind the scenes with coding and software programming, or easily demonstrated through AI and robotics, tech can be an asset and sometimes a liability or distraction. NSHSS wishes to honor our students devoted to tech to tell us all about their passions for the field.

March 20, 2025 

Any high school senior graduating in 2025 with at least a 3.0 GPA who will pursue a science-related field in college may apply for this scholarship opportunity. 

This scholarship aims to support students who are pursuing studies in science in order to advance the field. Students with the following qualities/needs are strongly encouraged to apply: independent and critical thinkers; possess leadership skills, and require a need for financial assistance.

Are you a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student either currently pursuing or planning to pursue a Life Science-related field of study for the upcoming academic year? If so, consider applying for the Antibodies-Online Annual University Scholarship! To help them achieve this goal, they offer a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing the Life Sciences twice a year. While there is only one winner per application cycle, the scholarship is biannual, with deadlines every January and July. 

Deadlines for application submission are July 20th and January 20th 

The (ISC)2 Undergraduate Scholarships provide financial assistance to students interested in working on an undergraduate degree in cyber security or information assurance. Students who demonstrate academic strength and financial need are welcome to apply.

As a community-serving program focused on increasing diversity in health care careers. This opportunity best serves students who have no previous exposure to health care. But you must provide proof of eligibility to legally work in the United States and have a permanent residence in a Northern California Kaiser Permanente. 

 Deadline is usually in December, though dates may vary by program year.

We are proud to offer so many great opportunities for anyone who wishes to volunteer at MarinHealth Medical Center. The positions accommodate high school students as young as 16 years old, college students, to general adults and senior populations. Please let our Volunteer Coordinator know if you have special skills (clerical work, retail sales, computers, etc.) Below you will find a list of current opportunities:

Best time to apply is between January – March each year. 

students will conduct hands-on research with a lab mentor in one of eight research institutes: immunology, neurobiology, cancer biology, bioengineering, stem cell and regenerative medicine, cardiovascular biology, bioinformatics, and genetics and genomics. (There is a $40 application fee (waived if family income is less than $80,000))

The Stanford Medical Youth Science Program (SMYSP) is an academic enrichment program for students from first generation and low-income high school juniors. Over five weeks, participants engage in faculty lectures, professional development workshops.

The Scripps Research Translational Institute (SRTI) promotes cutting-edge translational research, focused on personalized health care through the genomic, proteomic and metabolomic correlates of health and disease. We additionally seek to advance personalized medicine through research incorporating mobile health (mHealth) monitoring of individuals’ symptoms and physiology.

The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program, formerly known as the Undergraduate Training Program, facilitates the recruitment of individuals, particularly minority high school students, who have demonstrated skills critical to NSA. Stokes is open to high school seniors planning on majoring in computer science or computer/electrical engineering.

Dell Scholars Program is open to incoming college students who are eligible for the Pell Grant and participated in a college readiness program in grades 11 and 12. The Dell Scholars Program was created by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in 1999 to provide support for students from low-income backgrounds pursuing a degree. Each year, 500 students are selected to become Dell Scholars and receive $20,000 to pay for their college expenses. If you come from a low-income background and need some help paying for your education, we encourage you to apply!

The Science Ambassador Scholarship is funded by Cards Against Humanity, an adult party card game company that supports charity efforts with its profits. Every year, their Science Ambassador Scholarship awards $20,000 each to five women or non-binary high school seniors or undergraduate students who submit a three-minute educational video on a STEM topic they’re passionate about.
