Scholarships are given to two winners: the winner receives a $1,000 scholarship; the runner-up prize is $500.

Each year, the scholarship awards $2,000 each to five (5) high school upperclassmen who have participated in classes/clubs in the following fields: Journalism/Mass Communications (including Broadcast, Radio, Newspaper), Marketing/PR, Yearbook, Literary Magazine, Public Speaking (including Debate Club, Mock Trial, Model United Nations), or Visual Communications (including Photography, Graphic Design, Digital Video/AV).

The Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association Scholarship annually awards $3,000 to multiple students who will be enrolled in an undergraduate program in the upcoming school year to study the fields of flexography and/or graphic communications. To apply, interested students must submit a completed application and essay, a copy of their transcripts, and two letters of recommendation. Are you a middle or high school student with a love for creative writing or artwork? If so, consider applying for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! The contest is broken up into 28 separate categories/competitions, each with its own age requirements and prompts. Winners will receive between $500 and $12,500, depending on the category. Entry fees are $10 per individual entry and $30 per portfolio. If the entry fee is a barrier to your participation in the Awards, simply select the “fee waiver” option when entering your work in the online portal.

Are you a high school senior planning to study Journalism? If so, consider applying for the Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship! This one-time $5,000 scholarship is open to high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in Journalism at any accredited college or university in the US. The National Press Club Journalism Institute offers this scholarship and others to help future journalists in their career pursuits. This scholarship honors Richard G. Zimmerman who was a long-time NPC (National Press Club) member who passed away in 2008.

Do you believe in the importance of safe driving? If so, consider applying for the Project Yellow Light/Hunter Garner Scholarship! The scholarship competition asks students to submit an advertisement in either video, radio, or billboard form to promote safe driving. It’s open to high school juniors, seniors, and undergraduate students. Offered by Project Yellow Light, the scholarship was started as a way to honor the life of Hunter Garner, a 16-year-old who died in a car crash. His mother and Project Yellow Light founder, Julie Garner, seeks to warn people of the dangers of reckless driving and honor her son’s life. Each year, multiple winners are selected for each category, receiving between $2,000 and $8,000 depending on the type of advertisement they submit.
